The ICN provided temporary services at several locations on the Capitol Complex, in Des Moines, to connect national media during the 2024 Iowa Caucuses.
We handled requests from a range of state government agencies in the weeks preceding the Iowa Caucus. The most requested service included multiple 1 Gb Internet connections, which were used by NBC (located at the State Historical Building), ABC (located at the State parking garage), and CNN (located at the State Judicial Building). The connections were used in a variety of ways from streaming video, updating social media, and instantaneous network office communications.
Additional services provided included Voice analog lines, cabling, and DDoS Mitigation. The preparation also included setting up temporary cabling, which allowed the media to be equipped for live broadcasts in the days leading up to the Caucus. In order to support the media's digital broadcasts, typical service requests frequently involved arranging connections and setting up spaces for temporary rack mounting and cabling. Our Cabling team was also on standby in the event that cabling support was required on Monday night.
We extend our thanks to our state government customers for all their support in hosting the media outlets. Additionally, we would like to thank our ICN employees who put in a great deal of effort in the lead-up to the Caucuses to make sure that Iowans and people worldwide could access caucus news via the national media outlets spread throughout the Capitol Complex.
