About the Iowa Communications Network
The Iowa Communications Network (ICN) is an independent state agency that runs Iowa's statewide fiber-optic telecommunications network.
Our advanced network delivers high-speed broadband internet, data, phone, security, and tech consulting services to authorized users across the state.

Operations & Funding
- Office Locations: Our business offices are located on the State Capitol Complex in Des Moines, Iowa.
- Network Operations Center: Our main tech hub and operations center are located at the Iowa National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters (JFHQ) in Johnston, Iowa.
- Leadership: The Governor appoints the ICN’s Executive Director.
- Governing Body: The Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission (ITTC) is the ICN's governing body. The ITTC provides central coordination and control over the network.
- Funding: Service fees make up most of our revenue. The ICN has not received money from the State General Fund to run the network since Fiscal Year 2004.

Under the Code of Iowa, the ICN is authorized to serve specific public sectors. We proudly connect the following:
