Our team has been busy making sure our State government runs well for Iowans during the agency restructuring in the weeks leading up to July 1 and in future weeks.
This work has involved processing orders for cabling, data, and voice service requests. ICNβs work ranges from installing or removing cabling for office relocations, as agencies consolidate and merge. It also includes office workstation reconfigurations and infrastructure upgrades to handle voice and data requirements for new employees. From placing and managing the orders, to validating that the account and billing are accurate, it takes all hands on deck to make sure the restructuring stays on track.
Below are a few helpful tips for ICN customers during this restructuring timeframe:
- Verify who is authorized to place an order or change an order. Account numbers and billing codes will be changing to reflect the restructuring. If a new or receiving agency is making changes for a transferring agency due to restructuring, ICN will need to have an email verification from both agencies to move forward with the order. Contact our Network Operations Center at (515) 725-4400 to make sure we have the updated authorized signatory on your account.
- Can one person be authorized to place orders for multiple agencies? Yes. To request to be associated with a second account, or to add someone who is already registered to an account to a second account, contact the ICN and we can make that addition for you.
- For Voice Customers, confirm that your 911 information is accurate. Did you know our managed voice provider, Lumen, now offers a courtesy 933 service that allows one to confirm that their phone number location information is accurate with emergency services? When you call 933, an automated recording will play your telephone number and address. If your location information needs to be updated, either contact your agency VoIP administrator or our Network Operations Center at (515) 725-4400, and we will help get the information updated in the Intrado system.
- What if a project was being planned before restructuring? If a new or receiving agency is making changes for a transferring agency due to restructuring, ICN will need to have an email verification from both agencies to move forward with the project. Be sure to contact your project manager to check-in to ensure the project is still on schedule.
In April, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed an agency reorganization plan in law, reducing Iowaβs 37 executive-level cabinet agencies down to 16. The restructuring was enacted July 1.
