ITTC Founding and Authority
The Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission (ITTC) was established in 1994.
Through state law, the ITTC was given exclusive control (or jurisdiction) over how the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) grows, how it is managed (oversight), and how it operates (function).
ITTC Responsibilities
The Commission is also responsible for overseeing how the Network is used. This means it must make sure the ICN's use is centralized and coordinated.
The ITTC ensures that operations are efficient and responsible. It also works to deliver the best possible service at the most affordable cost to its approved users, while staying within the state's financial constraints.
Focus on Education
The ITTC must put educational users first. They are given priority.
This priority also applies to the ITTC's work on the Network, including the design, use, and actual creation of new educational applications.
