The Iowa Communications Network (ICN) is the country's premier distance learning and state government broadband carrier network. The ICN provides high-speed flexible broadband Internet, data, video conferencing, and voice (phone) services to authorized users, under Code of Iowa, which includes: K-12 schools, higher education, hospitals and clinics, state and federal government, National Guard armories, and libraries.

2017 Legislative Overview
The legislature adjourned on April 22. Commissioner Tim Lapointe’s fourth term appointment (through 2023) was approved by the Senate on April 6. He has served on the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission (ITTC) since 1999.
