Adding Environmental Sensors into the Network

Environmental Sensors

A new sensor system (Enviromux) is being integrated into 130+ ICN equipment locations.  The platform monitors critical environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, liquid water presence, power, intrusion, and smoke throughout the Network. This new IP enabled system allows for total access and visibility to equipment locations on the Network in real-time.

The use of temperature, humidity, and smoke detector sensors protect the equipment from harsh environments, and allow ICN’s Network Operations Center (NOC) to monitor rooms remotely. The alarms are tagged, so any change in the environment notifies staff.  An additional benefit with the sensors is the ability to notify when people are coming and going from the various location(s). This integration complies with the network security RADIUS protocol, which delivers another layer of security by encrypting user credentials.

In the future, ICN plans to add surveillance cameras for total visibility, to view right away who is entering and accessing the location(s).
