Steve Olson was appointed to the ITTC by Governor Reynolds on July 17, 2019. Mr. Olson graduated from Calamus Community High School and attended Iowa State University. He served in the Iowa Army Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973, and is a lifelong farmer by profession. He previously has served on the Calamus Community School board and the Grand Mound Cooperative Telephone Association board. He also was employed by the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and worked with their Electronic Identification Program.
Mr. Olson served in the Iowa House of Representatives from January, 2003, to January, 2015, attaining the position of Speaker Pro-Tem of the House. While serving in the Iowa House of Representatives he received the following honors: Iowa Agribusiness Association Legislator of the Year in 2008; Associated General Contractors Friend of the Industry in 2014; and the Hoover Uncommon Public Service award in 2014.
Mr. Olson is a member of the American Legion Post #466, as well as many local church, commodity, and civic organizations.
Steve and his wife, Eunice, have two married children and four grandchildren.
